Specializing in custom food photography for advertising agencies, food corporations, magazine and book publishers, Jim Scherer helps clients communicate their message with tantalizing photography. His compelling images are used in advertising, corporate communications, and editorial publications.
Jim Scherer has been a professional food photographer for more than 25 years. He got his first taste of food photography during a cookbook shoot with Julia Child. Jim went on to shoot two more books with the legendary chef and soon became devoted to the specialty. His reputation is that of a photographer who understands not only his craft but also his clients. A key to his success is his collaborative work style. “A big part of my job,” he says, “is to listen intently, to communicate well, and to get the very best from every member of the team.”
Jim has received awards for artistic excellence from ASMP (the American Society of Media Photographers) New England chapter, and four times has been featured in the Communication Arts Photography Annuals. He speaks at photographic and culinary conferences, including the New York Photo Expo, the Boston University Culinary Writers Program, the James Beard House, and the Boston Culinary and Seafood Expos. Jim graduated from Yale with a degree in Fine Art. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, then apprenticed under some of Boston’s top practitioners. He lives in Boston with his wife Elena, and his interests include music, science, art and bicycling. Jim’s photography portfolio may be viewed online at jimscherer.com.
